<ab>Some believe the white colored crust that is on top to be natural. Others say that it is a lost secret of old lapidists. Others say that this is <m>enamel</m> that has been cooked again, and, by on this crust, multiple numbers, letters, circles and others strange motifs can appear. Regarding the method, I did it this way: I once wanted to add a layer of <m>arsenic</m> ground on <m>marble</m>, however, I did the experiment without it, and I put the mentioned above <m>enilanroc</m> in a small <m>iron</m> casket on the fire of my <pro>goldsmith</pro>’s forge with three or four small half-burnt <m>coals</m> and breathed on it only with my mouth. However, the thing caught fire and became all white, not only on its surface but also inside, and then, I let it cool on its own near the fire, because otherwise, exposing it suddenly to cold air would have made it crack. When it was all white, I passed my <m>lead</m> wheel over it and I found it to be as hard as it was before, and having scraped a little of the white [layer], I found it to be of a clear fleshy tone. Finally, I polished it and noticed that it took a very nice polish luster and it could have been compared to a very beautiful <m>agate</m> stone used to carve beautiful faces and apply on the table of an<lb/>
